I received my bachelors degree in painting from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut.
I attended graduate school for graphic design in Basel, Switzerland. Drawing in perspective, color studies, graphic translations, calligraphy, hand painted letterforms and symbols were among the fundamentals I learned in the Weiterbildung. I developed skills in Basel that I apply both as a graphic designer and also as a fine artist. For a few years after Basel I studied painting at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston with the realist, Joel Babb.

I am inspired by the colorful and irreverent West Coast painters such as Roy DeForest and Wayne Thiebaud. On the traditional side, I am a fan of many traditional Finnish and Swedish painters and also the Group of Seven from Canada. My work is figurative, with an emphasis on color, light and form. I especially enjoy painting cups repeating in patterns, cups with patterns on them, cups in light and shadow, still and in motion. Realisim with a twist of fantasy...
